At Hillside Community Church, we value your spiritual growth and we want to support you. To further this mission, and to aid you in your journey, we collect a variety of information. With this information, we provide services and create programs tailored to the congregation’s needs, both individually and collectively.

The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to describe how Hillside Community Church (the “Church,” “we” or “us”) collects, uses, and shares information that can identify you, whether online or offline. Donations If you make a donation, we collect your name, contact information (such as email address, phone number, and physical address), and payment information (such as credit card number and billing address).

 

To provide opportunities for you to partner with us through financial giving and to process donations.
Inquiries, comments, and requests If you contact us, such as to inquire about our organization, provide feedback, or request information, we collect your name and contact details, as well as any other content that you send to us.

 

To respond to or follow-up on your comments, inquiries and other requests.
Mailing list When you sign up for one of our mailing lists we collect your email address or postal address. To keep you informed of our ministry, send you ministry information and resources which we believe you will be interested in, and send special offers or other promotional messages we think will be of interest to you or for which you have requested information.

 

Partner programs We collect information that you provide as part of a program or event that we co-sponsor or co-market with another organization. To conduct Church activities with other organizations we work with and send tailored promotional communications to you jointly offering a product or service.

 

Personal beliefs and circumstances We collect information about beliefs and circumstances including religious information, preferences, and information you disclose about your personal circumstances.

 

To provide support, resources and information we think might be of interest to you.
Social media When you interact with us through social media, we collect any content you choose to provide, which may include your social media handle or account profile.

 

To communicate with you, understand your opinions, and provide tailored services.
Surveys When you participate in a survey we collect information that you provide through the survey. If the survey is provided by a third party service provider, the third party’s privacy policy applies to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information.

2. Information We Collect Automatically

As is common of many websites and apps, we gather certain information automatically.   • Conduct Church activities, for instance to minister to you;
  • Communicate with you about promotions, events, offers, or services for you or your family;
  • Verify your identity (online or offline);
  • Protect Church members;
  • Improve any service we or our partners offer;
  • Investigate, prevent, or take action regarding unlawful or harmful activities;
  • For statistical purposes, such as identifying donation or attendance trends;
  • Recognize you online;
  • Conduct analytics;
  • Facilitate any other purpose for which you provided the information or otherwise agree to;
  • For administrative purposes, such as managing our relationships;
  • Match the information with other information about you, for example in databases of our partners; and
  • Create aggregated, anonymized or de-identified information, which we may use and disclose without restriction (for instance, for analysis, research or marketing purposes).

3. How We Share Your Information

In addition to the specific situations discussed elsewhere in this Privacy Policy, we share your information in the following situations:

  • With a variety of service providers who help us run our organization. Among other things, service providers may help us with soliciting donations, recruiting members, billing, administering our website [and/or apps], order fulfillment, email services, advertising and marketing, and other functions;
  • With trusted partners who wish to conduct statistical or administrative analysis, improve their services, or match you with services or products;
  • With other organizations with which we may co-sponsor or co-market a program, service, or event;

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and third parties use automated means to collect information about you and your device, when you use our website [and/or app] or interact with advertising or emails. These automated means include technologies such as cookies, Web server logs, Web beacons or pixels, and JavaScript, as well as functionality that can collect data from a mobile device. Such technologies are used for a variety of purposes, such as to make our websites work properly, to make a user’s experience more efficient, to understand how visitors interact with our websites, and to for advertising purposes.

Cookies. Cookies are small pieces of information that are placed on your computer or mobile device by websites you visit. We use our own cookies as well as cookies served by third parties. However, some website features or services may not function properly without certain cookies.

Web Beacons or Pixels. Web beacons or pixels, are often used in combination with cookies and are tiny image files placed on a website or in an e-mail message. Among other things, web beacons track actions of website users and email recipients, such as which pages are visited, when an e-mail was opened, and which links were clicked. We or third parties may send instructions to your device to store or gather the sorts of information described above and other details about your interactions.

Do Not Track Signals. Some web browsers incorporate a “Do Not Track” or similar feature. Currently we do not respond to Do Not Track signals.

5. Your Choices

You can make the following choices regarding your information:

Accessing, Modifying, or Deleting Your Information. You may request that we give you access to your information, delete your information, or modify your information that you think is inaccurate or incomplete. You may exercise the rights by contacting us using the information provided below. We do our best to consider all requests of this nature, even if we are not legally required to do so, but you should note that in many situations we must keep your information to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, or for another one of our business purposes.

Objection to Certain Processing. You may object to our use or disclosure of your personal information in certain circumstances by contacting us using the information provided below. Other

Opt-Out Choices. You may choose to provide us with your email address for the purpose of allowing us to send you information about the Church and our events, newsletters, offers, and other promotional materials. You can stop receiving promotional emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in emails that you receive.

6. Children’s Information

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age without parental consent. If you believe we might have any information from or about your child under 13, please contact us using the information below so that we may take measures to delete such information.

7. Data Security

We understand and respect the importance of the security of the information we collect. Nonetheless, no organization can provide complete assurances that its security measures will avoid all risks or breaches. While we use reasonable efforts to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure, we cannot guarantee the security of your information. In the event we are required by law to inform you of a breach of your information, we may notify you electronically, in writing, or by telephone, if permitted to do so by law.

8. Third Party Links, Programs and Services

Our website [and/or apps] may contain links to third party websites, content or services. When you interact with these websites or services, those parties’ privacy policies – not ours – will apply. Likewise, if you provide information to third parties at events, that information will be handled pursuant to their – not our – policies. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, relevant laws and other factors. The updated version will be effective as soon as it is published. You can check the “Last modified” legend at the bottom of this page to see when this Privacy Policy was last revised.
