So often, the way we live our life is as if it all depends on us. We think we can do it on our own; we hold tightly to the things we want to control; we worry, instead of trusting.
In His Easter message last weekend, Pastor Aaron reminded us that when we try to control our circumstances, we limit God’s power in our lives.
So here’s the decision we have to make: are we going to do things on our own OR are we going to open our hands and let God do what only He can do?
Jesus’ resurrecting power – the SAME power that raised Him from the dead! – lives in us, and is available to us when we feel weak, when we feel helpless, when we feel despair and when we feel like we’ve done all we can do.
“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” Romans 8:11
Our new sermon series, “Only God: Making Room for a Miracle” kicked off last weekend, and over the next few weeks, we’ll walk through different ways we can trust God in our circumstances.
Whether it’s in our marriage, in our parenting, in our anxious thoughts, or in our finances, we all need help. Instead of trying to do it on our own, may we find ourselves in moments of surrender, pressing in close to Jesus, and saying, “God, help us.”
Only then, and with ONLY GOD, will we live lives way beyond our own ability and understanding.
Join us this weekend as Pastor Aaron continues this series with a message on “Only God: Marriage and Friendships.” Saturday at 5 p.m. // Sunday at 8:30, 10:00 and 11:30 a.m.
We’ll continue the conversation next Wednesday, May 1 from 6:30-8:15 p.m. with a special Marriage Seminar featuring Dr. Cameron Lee.
