Hillside has some of the best of the best when it comes to volunteers. Though some are seen serving upfront, others are content to serve behind the scenes in a variety of ways. One such volunteer, Monica Wilding, is the woman behind our Hillside Women’s Instagram account (CLICK HERE to follow) and helps in a bunch of other ways.
Meet Monica
Monica and her husband, Trevor, have been attending Hillside for about 13 years. After becoming a first time mom, she felt a stirring inside to dive deeper into her own faith. She wanted to ensure that she would eventually be able to share it with her children. It was in her beginning years of attending the Women’s Bible Study at Hillside that she first truly encountered Jesus on a personal level and developed a strong desire to learn and know God’s word.
“My eyes were opened and my heart began to transform,” Monica shares. “Women’s Ministry has played a huge role in not only leading me to Jesus… but also keeping me anchored in Him.”
Monica now serves in Women’s Ministry, helping with their social media, as well as facilitating tables for the women’s study and Moms in Christ. Her favorite thing about serving in Women’s Ministry is the incredible connections and friendships that are formed.
“I get to witness God at work in so many ways through the stories that are shared around our tables,” she says. “I also enjoy learning in community alongside others. I encourage all women to come check out a women’s Bible study or one of our events. There’s a seat for you at the table.”She also serves in Kids Ministry and loves helping to teach children God’s word.
“I personally did not have a foundation of faith growing up, and I sure wish I had,” Monica says. “I love seeing God’s truth taking root in their hearts.”
Monica enjoys serving in the ministries that have impacted her life in a profound way, and wants to encourage others to figure out where God is stirring their heart and lean into it.
“God has given you specific and intentional gifts that He is calling you to steward in a way that will make an eternal impact,” she says. “Just as Jesus selflessly served, He is calling us to follow His ways.”
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace,” 1 Peter 4:10
Something the Lord is constantly teaching Monica, she shares, is to surrender her plans, timelines and will for HIS.
“He reminds me again and again that HE is a sovereign and faithful God who goes before me, walks beside me, knows what’s best, and can be trusted,” she says.
In her free time, Monica loves being outside. Her and her family enjoy camping, hiking, and exploring, and she also enjoys reading and exercising.
