The volunteers at Hillside are what make our church so great.
From ushers to greeters, youth and adult group leaders, to our care ministry and everywhere in-between, our volunteers use their God-given gifts to serve others on a daily basis. Through this blog, we’ll highlight some of the incredible members of our team and provide new ways to get connected and serve at Hillside.
Our first volunteer spotlight is Bruce Gove, a team member in Hillside Kids. Bruce has been helping families check in to the children’s area for approximately nine years now. As one of the first faces that families see when they come for weekend gatherings, Bruce’s personable demeanor and smiling face provide a warm welcome to Hillside.
Bruce, a former teacher, said working in the children’s area has allowed him to use his gifts to serve children and stay connected to education in an informal way. And in all his years of volunteering, one of Bruce’s favorite things has been the enjoyment of seeing children willingly and joyfully walking through the doors, excited for their time at Hillside.
“In my opinion, there are few moments in life more delightful than seeing and hearing children enjoying themselves,” he said. “Hillside Kids has been a source of much joy to literally thousands of children over the years.”
Bruce is a great example of what it looks like to use your individual gifts to serve the kingdom. If you’re wondering where you fit in and what it means to live on mission, either through serving at Hillside or in the community, visit here to get started!
