Coffee Shop Barista

Hospitality  |  Part-Time Up to 20 hr./week: Sun, Wed, & per scheduled events

 OVERVIEW 

The Coffee Shop Barista, at the direction of the Coffee Shop Manager, provides food services efficiently and effectively, with Christ-centered care, to help create a welcoming environment at Hillside.  This includes, but is not limited to, helping the coffee bar team to provide refreshments at the coffee bar at ministry events on-premises (e.g., Sunday services), and catering refreshments outside of the coffee bar by request for selected events in collaboration with ministries at Hillside. They are committed to the vision of seeing God’s hope transform our cities one story at a time, and the mission of experiencing God’s love, Growing in Community, and Serving with Compassion.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Clock in and out each day on premises on time for each shift. 
  • Maintain a clean environment in the coffee bar and surrounding areas, including, but not limited to: counter tops, floors, refrigerators 
  • Remove and dispose of foods that are past their expiration dates 
  • Ensure that all supplies are fully stocked. 
  • Maintain a current inventory of all necessary supplies. 
  • Submit a completed reorder sheet to the Coffee Shop Manager on Sunday to replenish supplies. 
  • Ensure that all syrups and bases for drinks are prepared before opening. 
  • Participate in ongoing training and improvement of coffee skills 

 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Previous barista experience requirement (6 month required) 
  • Naturally friendly and attentive to customer experience 
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with a team 
  • Reliable, punctual, and responsible 
  • Passion for coffee culture and continuous improvement 
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Ability to listen, be coachable, and communicate effectively. 
  • Experience with latte art is a plus!
