JHM Summer Camp: The Best Week Ever

Jul 3, 2025

Camp was super fun and an overall great experience.

I did lots of fun activities, such as hanging out with friends, getting blobbed at the lake, shooting in airsoft battles, doing an escape room, dressing up fancy on the last night, doing fun games in rec, eating lots of “candy salad,” playing soccer, polar plunging and way more. It was such a fun week! Recreation time was so fun and my team was super close to winning in the first couple of days, but then we moved down to almost last… but that doesn’t matter since I was praising the Lord from all the fun!

Chapel time was even more amazing! God really spoke to me this week through my friends and worship. The songs were amazing and I had some emotional times because of the songs. I felt God.The pastor talked to us about Joseph’s life and how difficult it was. Even through his hard times, God was always with him and He had a plan. His life changed for the good and it was all because the Lord had a plan and was with him.

At one point, we had a choice to stand if we wanted to get closer to God. I stood since I feel like I should always want to get closer to the Lord, and I had felt Him so much at camp. My friends and I all stayed back in chapel one night since we all made the decision to stand. This was really emotional because in those moments was when the Lord was really with me. I took time that night to really love on my friends since they are the best.

Chapel was overall super great, as well as worship. I loved the band, Vessel Worship. They were super kind and encouraging. Cabin discussions were also powerful.  It was great to be in a quiet room and talk more about the message.

I learned a lot about my friendships at camp. My friends and I have grown closer with the Lord and each other. The main questions that stick out from camp is, “Who is God? And why do I care?” For me, God is my everything. He is Sovereign, He is with you, and He has a plan. If He wasn’t here for us, then the world would forever be filled with sin. But He forgives and tells us to run from sin and run towards God. He jumps in to help us. Camp was sooo fun and I’m bummed that that was my last summer camp at Hume SoCal. I am so thankful for everything. The Lord was with me through it all and He really showed me this week that He loves me.

I’m also very thankful for the sleep I got.

Thank you, Jesus.
